JOB SUMMARY: This position will work with all levels of the organization to gather reporting requirements and turn those requirements into reports that provide valuable insight to decision makers. You will be asked to mentor other team members and lead projects from inception and initial design, through development and testing. This includes writing complex SQL, designing and developing reports and dashboards using a number of different reporting tools, and developing reporting tables. You will also be asked to become a subject matter expert on all BI reporting systems and methodologies, as well as provide recommendations on making improvements. SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop complex SQL queries and stored procedures; Assist in maintenance and development of business intelligence data architecture and ETL processes; Test new reports and SQL logic for both accuracy and functionality; Modify and troubleshoot existing reports as needed or requested; Provide recommendations and contribute as a key strategic resource for strategic planning of BI systems and data architecture; Solve complex business problems with functional, clinical, and claims data; Design and implement BI solutions, including gathering requirements, planning, technology selection, developing, rolling out, and end-user training; Build compelling data visualizations to communicate insights to technical and executive stakeholders; Evaluate industry trends for opportunities to bring new data sources and technologies for data storage and visualizations into the BI environment; Design, enhance and maintain the reporting metadata layers, reports, report definitions and dashboards; Provide BI expertise and data visualization design knowledge internally and externally and promote BI benefits to all stakeholders; Demonstrates excellent communication and formatting skills to share data and transform into actionable information in an understandable manner; Consults with business customers in the use of analytical & reporting tools to develop effective clinical, cost, quality & satisfaction outcomes. Provides oversight for the content, format & production of regular & ad hoc reports. Participates in work groups and committees. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Information Services or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES : 5 years of successful and increasingly responsible experience in a healthcare business intelligence setting or related field. An appropriate combination of education, skills, and experience, can be substituted for total years; Key experience highlights include strong knowledge of business intelligence tools and techniques, relational databases, strong knowledge of automated reporting tools, high level of experience with SQL and electronic health records; Strong proficiency in all aspects of design, development and testing and best practices of Enterprise application and/or reporting implementations; Strong proficiency in the design, development and/or maintenance of reporting systems and databases; Knowledge of client/server and host-based systems; Strong knowledge of analytical tools and techniques to investigate data trends, issues, and to draw conclusions from data; Knowledge of database structures, data definitions, and data relationships; In-depth knowledge and application of industry standard report writing tools, such as: Excel, SQL, Crystal Reports, etc.; Knowledge of industry standard Business Intelligence (BI) solution tools, such as: Oracle, Business Objects, Tableau, etc.; Proficient in all aspects of design, development and testing and best practices of Enterprise relational databases such as Oracle, SQL, Access; Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a capacity for translating product and business needs into technical specifications.
