Summary: The Programmer Analyst position develops, implements and maintains application software to established standards and specifications. Develops application software using approved programming languages. Modifies acquired application software using tables, profiles and other vendor supplied customization tools to reflect approved changes specified by the users. Implements approved changes to application software to maintain currency standards, correct problems, modify or enhance applications function. Participates in the design and selection of application software to develop skills and knowledge. Participates in the definition of functional and technical requirements for application software to develop skills and knowledge. In cooperation with technical support and operations staffs, prepares application software procedures and documentation for usage, operation, backup and recovery, problem resolution, shutdown and initialization, and process automation. Adheres to department policies, procedures and standards in the development and implementation of software. Prepares change control documentation. Prepares audit and internal control procedures. Documents new programs or changes to existing programs. In cooperation with the end user, tests application software to assure accuracy, integrity, interoperability and completeness to achieve desired results. Trains user and operations staff and validates ability to use and run applications. Documents testing and training results. Analyzes reasons for failure and revises assigned programs and/or procedures as necessary.   Duties and Responsibilities: Implement error free application software in a timely manner. Maintain assigned applications at or above the set performance levels. Proactively monitor the performance of assigned application software and makes approved changes to improve operating efficiency and effectiveness of assigned applications. Proactively diagnosis and correct application software problems and improve operating performance. Complete assigned software implementation tasks with high quality and on schedule. Work with project manager and users to identify opportunities to improve operating effectiveness and efficiency of applications and business processes Writes structured application/interface code from specifications conforming to established methodology and standards. Conducts unit tests of either new or modified applications. Participates in code reviews to represent reviewed work for adherence to standards and specifications. Writes or revises program documentation, operations documentation and user guides in accordance with standards. Complete technical training and company orientation as required to strengthen organizational and technical knowledge.
