Job Description

The Data Warehouse Specialist is responsible for providing general support in the data integration related activities throughout the organization. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy. The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in information technology or a related area; plus five years of experience in designing and implementing data warehouse and relational database applications. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE. Performs the data modeling design process, according to custom specifications and reporting requirements. Implements and supports new system applications, enhancements, and future upgrades for existing applications. Provides systems analysis, proposes appropriate solutions, and utilizes the technology to accomplish each assignment. Designs, develops, tests, and maintains programs using software development tools in various programming environments. Develops and maintains complete, accurate, and timely documentation for assigned applications. Supports users in the implementation and day-to-day use of administrative systems database applications, including user training and workflow recommendations, and provides technical support to other programming team members. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of advanced data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to demonstrate organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems and to translate the solutions intoapplications/systems or modifications. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to pay attention to detail, manage multiple priorities, and work both independentlyand as part of a team. Experience with administering and maintaining multiple complex database systems; Five years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and above, PowerShell, technical writing and troubleshooting; Experience in approving, modifying and implementing data structure changes from user requests; Evaluates system performance, space availability and methodology; Five years of experience in the development and maintenance of inbound/outbound HL7 interfaces utilizing Mirth Connect; Ability to prepare technical documentation (flowcharts, diagrams, code comments and visualizations). Occasional or frequent 24-hour on-call duty may be required. Infrequent, short duration travel may be required. In some cases, overnight stays might be necessary.
