Position Description

  • As a Cloud Middleware Engineer at Walmart Technology, you'll be responsible for large-scale, traditional VM and cloud middleware technologies, tools development and maintenance. You'll interact with platform consumers to provide robust technical solutions to business problems. You will work in an agile team and are expected to collaborate with other high performing engineers to develop efficient, scalable and highly reliable systems. As a part of Application Foundation group of Walmart Cloud Technology Platform, you will maintain traditional VM middleware, build products and services in cloud environments which enable other teams to build applications that power not only eCommerce but also brick and mortar stores, distribution centers, fulfillment centers, etc. You should be able to take initiative and quickly prototype and demonstrate innovative solutions to difficult problems. This team develops and runs critical services which are utilized by business critical, revenue impacting applications. As such, you will be expected to take ownership of the developed solutions and support it in production.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 2 years' OR Master of Science and 1 year's systems engineering experience OR 4 years' systems engineering experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with installation/management/support for Microsoft IIS, IBM WAS, Tomcat
  • 3+ years of software/scripting development experience using languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Puppet
  • Strong understanding of automation
  • Significant experience in troubleshoot and debugging
  • Significant experience in working on large scale software systems and platforms
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate at all levels and roles from developers, scum masters to executives
  • Knowledge of software methodologies and patterns, as well as the complete software development lifecycle
  • Experience with declarative languages (e.g., yaml, json, etc.)
  • Experience developing Services including APIs and Web Services
  • Experience using CI/CD tools such as, VSTS, Maven, Nexus, Sonar, Git
  • Experience in an Operations or DevOps role
  • Experience in developing and deploying in public clouds such as AWS, Azure, GCP
