Job Description

Dillard’s is looking for an experienced Business Analyst within the Information Technology department.

Dillard’s Agile teams develop in a co-located environment, utilizing an Agile development methodology, and leveraging the roles of Developers, UI/UX, Business Analysts, Quality Analysts, and led by an Iteration Manager.    


  • Elicits business requirements using interviews, document analysis, facilitated workshops, surveys, site visits, and business process descriptions
  • Uses cases, scenarios, business and workflow analysis
  • Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, consolidates low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from underlying true needs
  • Performs root cause analysis of pain points in current processes and discern between critical vs. non-critical functions
  • Drives and challenges business units on their assumptions around how and why they do things in order to develop an accurate to-be process
  • Breaks down complex requirements into User Stories written from a business perspective that can be coded and tested in short iterations
  • Work with UI/UX team to develop applications that satisfy requirements and drive usability
  • Develops acceptance criteria to determine when a story is complete and coordinate with the quality analyst in the final review before user acceptance testing
  • Explains business requirements to the development team and collaborate during iterations on the best way to execute solutions and verify completion of stories
  • Serve as the liaison between the business users and the development team
  • Lead, mentor, and guide other team members


  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Ability to work onsite at Corporate Headquarters in Little Rock, AR 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, or similar role
  • Excellent organization, presentation, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of business needs and how to translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast paced Agile work environment
  • A self-starter who is able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable interacting professionally with a diverse group:  executives, managers, quality analysts, developers, subject matter experts, and end users
  • Effective at communicating technical issues to non-technical users
  • Experience working in a software development environment


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Visio)
  • Experience presenting to small and large groups of people
  • Understanding of databases and ability to write SQL or use tools like QMF to verify results
  • Experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with detailed experience in the following phases:  defining scope, analyzing requirements, design implementation, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing
  • Involvement on project teams using Agile methodology
