This position serves as the Lead Network Engineer for the IT Data Center Infrastructure Network Services Team. The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, designing, architecting, installing, training, supporting, and project coordinating of new and ongoing projects that involve the Enterprise network. This position also is responsible for research of new network products, which may provide solutions to Enterprise business problems and new business initiatives. Additionally, the Lead Network Engineer ensures the Network Services Team provides and maintains an efficient level of service to the Enterprise through effective, continual, proactive monitoring and review. Primary job functions require exercising independent judgment in support and management of the Enterprise network infrastructure including WAN, LAN, MAN, MPLS, UVN, and Internet.
This individual also recommends network based problem resolutions and has responsibility of developing and monitoring network performance and availability standards. The Lead Network Engineer performs in the capacity of a team leader to provide oversight, assistance, and leadership to members of the Network Services Team.
Thorough knowledge of network architecture, planning, management, configuration, operations, and performance tuning are required. In-depth knowledge of Cisco-based products, Fibre Channel, TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, redundancy and disaster recovery operations are required. The Lead Network Engineer may seek appropriate professional certifications, such as but not limited to Cisco certification
The Lead Network Engineer must provide excellent user support and have outstanding communication, technical writing, and documentation skills. In addition, the person in this position must have exceptional troubleshooting and problem resolution skills and demonstrate expertise with day-to-day network management and administration, including proactive monitoring and capacity planning.
Minimum Job Requirements
Lead Network Engineer I
Bachelors Degree & minimum of six (6) years prior experience in networking systems, computer repair, or network operations,;
A minimum of seven (7) years of prior experience in networking systems, computer repair, or network operations
Six (6) years experience with a focus on network support.
Six (6) years minimum experience with operations and procedures including configuring, tuning, monitoring, securing, and managing network software and hardware
Six (6) years minimum experience with networking systems with operating systems such Unix/AIX systems, Windows NT/200x systems, mainframe, HPUX, and Open Systems; Network Security, and Enterprise networks including TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, DHCP, FTP, and FC.
Experience as a lead in at least one (1) large-scale project.
Must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, and judgment skills in addition to organizational vision.
Must possess strong writing, analytical, and grammar skills.
