Are you passionate about sustainability? Are you looking for the opportunity to drive significant and lasting improvements in environmental and social outcomes? We would love to hear from you! Together, we have an opportunity to shape the future.
Since the first Walmart store opened in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas, we've been dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our customers. Our business is the result of Sam Walton's visionary leadership, along with generations of associates focused on helping customers and communities save money and live better. This rich heritage defines who we are and what we do today.
There are a lot of stereotypes out there about Walmart. It’s no secret to us that we have critics who assume we’re doing business at the expense of people and the planet – that we’re all talk. The fact is, though, we’ve been working hard to use our scale to create positive change for a long time now. Issues like sustainability and opportunity don’t take a backseat. For us, our founder’s mission still guides the way. Sam set out to save people money so that they could live better lives. We learned that we simply can’t do that if our people and the planet aren’t nurtured for the long run. Short- termism has no place in our plan.
Walmart’s Supply Chain is in the process of transforming our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program, and we are building our organization to align with our vision which is:
We operate a safe work environment because we believe our associates’ lives and health are pricelessly valuable. One injury is too many. We operate in an environmentally responsible way because we value the communities we operate in.
