Business Intelligence Architect

At Dillard’s, the Business Intelligence (BI) Architect is responsible for a full range of activities which ensure effective development of the Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse solutions. The Business Intelligence Architect will work with the line of business to track and analyze business trends and to design analytic solutions, turning data into actionable information that helps drive success across the organization.

A Business Intelligence Architect will have the knowledge of the business practices across the enterprise as well as the technology and tools that can be leveraged to implement the most effective solution to meet the needs of the business clients. These solutions may be as simple as creating KPI (key performance indicator) dashboards or as complex as building self-service environments or rules-based event triggers. Additionally, this role requires an understanding of how to analyze the data and create insights to facilitate key decisions for the line of business.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Utilize strong business analytics skills in Inventory Management, Logistics, Financials, eCommerce and Enterprise Marketing Management and Customer Relationship Management  

• Coordinate interaction and communication between business users, the Analytics team and IT
• Work with business users to translate complex reporting requirements into functional specifications for reporting solutions
• Work with development teams to finalize functional and technical design specifications to build a solution that meets the specification and to test/validate the solution all the way to production

• Coordinate assignments of internal resources
• Design and develop analytics incorporating data security, drill-down, drill throughs, and flexible data hierarchies 
• Validate data relationships, mapping and definitions and the accuracy of the logical data models
• Understand the usage, nuances and architecture of the Cognos framework, security model, and reporting capabilities
• Understand the capabilities of existing ETL tools that can be leveraged

• Has the ability to work a project list as well as handle interruptions in a timely and effective manner

Required Skills

• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship 
• Ability to work onsite at Corporate Headquarters in Little Rock, AR
• Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills 
• 3+ years of IBM Cognos experience
• Good problem solving skills with knowledge of web based applications
• Business Analysis skills
• Able to work well under pressure and independently, grasp new ideas quickly and be able to thrive in a dynamic and diverse environment

Desired Skills

• A retail or economics background is preferred
