Position Summary...

What you'll do...

             In this role, you will have ownership of products and services directly impacting Walmart’s Assortment, Space, Apparel, Online Stores, and Image systems. Your efforts will also entail working closely with multiple Engineering areas, Product teams, Data teams and business partners. 
            As a Software Engineer III, you’ll spend your days working on key Global Technology initiatives for Assortment Excellence and Omni-Store areas.  

You will spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo.

            You will drive integrations, tech modernization, creating new functions and new features that enable the business, and keeping operational excellence across the products.  This will include work with both the site and store sides of the business.     

Solve problems, discover trends, drive solutions for initiatives and eliminate business impacts.  Lead these efforts both independently and on teams.  Analytical skills and drive for excellence for many aspects of the area, from cost budgeting for new programs to assisting Product areas with the creation of new ideas and features needed to help the company. 

            Technical skills across multiple facets needed for resolving larger scale issues and giving recommendations for the future of existing and new products. 

Establish, create, and monitor metrics that flow into systems to add the capability for business and IT technical teams to track and allow the decision-making process at multiple levels.  Excellent data analytics skills with a strong focus on execution.

Ideal Candidate Must-Haves: 

  • Strong programming and engineering skills. Should have an analytical design approach and demonstrated experience in software engineering and programming  
  • BA/BS/MA/MS degree in Computer Science or closely related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years’ experience building large scale, distributed systems
  • Experience with C#, Java, Shell Scripting, Node.JS, React and middleware software 
  • Strong understanding and experience building RESTful APIs  
  • Experience working on Azure Cloud and Google Cloud platforms
  • Working experience with queuing tools such as Kafka, MQSeries or JSON Listeners 
  • Familiarity to Monitoring & Alerting tools such as Splunk, Medusa, and DynaTrace 
  • Familiarity with a combination of infrastructure and databases to include and/or have immediate plans to include SQL, Teradata, MS AZURE, GCP, MSSQL, Oracle, DB2, Informix, Cassandra, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes/Edge, Dockers, and connectivity to others 
  • Agile development methodology and ITSM frameworks 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of expertise and hands-on experience in object-oriented programming  
  • 2+ years of Experience with React, Redux or Next.js 
  • 2+ years of prior industry experience in developing highly scalable web applications.  
  • 2+ years of experience in working in a collaborative environment using Agile SCRUM practices
  • Experience in automated CI/CD workflow using tools such as GitHub, Looper, and Concord
  • Experience working directly with Product, Business, and other stake holders
