About the New Business Development Team

While it’s important that Walmart continues to drive the day-to-day business and focuses on serving our customers today, it’s also critical that we’re looking ahead to the customer and business needs of tomorrow. The New Business Development team is a newly created group to do just that. This venture is a multi-billion dollar opportunity, rooted in leveraging existing Walmart assets, building new capabilities, innovating business models, and laying the groundwork for a sizeable new business.   As a result, we are looking for a Senior Director II, Product Management to help us create a comprehensive product vision and roadmap, optimize our approach to the user experience, and work collaboratively toward a compelling MVP. A dynamic leader and forward thinker, this position calls for an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for solving business problems with innovative solutions.

It's an exciting time to join us as this team is in its infancy, offering the chance to be a founding member and set the stage from a cultural, strategic, and operational perspective. You'll have the opportunity to hire, shape the product, work cohesively with the Business and Technology teams, equip the design/UX teams with the tools they need to effectively execute and go to market with an initial product that has the capacity to impact the future of retail. You’ll have the chance to be an intrapreneur and build something truly impactful from the ground up—all while being backed by the strength of Walmart and having access to the assets of the world's largest omnichannel retailer.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Defining product vision and strategy for this new business – you will use your domain expertise in ecommerce, B2B and platforms, identifying specific market opportunities, understanding customer needs, and building business cases.

  • Developing and enhancing products – you will manage product roadmaps, align business and technical needs, analyze customer and product data, turn customer insights into actionable initiatives, determine rollout strategies, and manage risks.

  • Building on top of existing products and capabilities within Global Tech, as appropriate, to bring product to market for MVP and the longer term.

  • Crafting and developing solutions to large business challenges – you will communicate business and customer needs to key partners to implement products in a timely fashion.

  • Building an inclusive team environment – you will select, train, and mentor exceptional teams.

  • Acting with speed - Enabling yourself and your teams to execute, removing roadblocks and creatively finding ways to achieve your goals.

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of your products and initiatives – you will improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness with participating stakeholders.

We’re looking for a dynamic leader who is…

  • A strong communicator who can evangelize product strategy and vision.

  • Able to translate product strategy into roadmaps that drive results.

  • An innovative thinker able to synthesize data from multiple sources, including analytics, user research, operations research, and design, to identify key unmet needs and craft solutions.

  • A leader and a mentor, raising the bar for product managers and UX designers creating detailed specifications, functional and user interface design tradeoffs, and leading product launches.

  • An empathetic partner to customers, capable of proactively anticipating requirements, influencing and guiding the team towards better solutions.

  • Has developed components of an end-to-end eCommerce platform and/or B2B platform-based solution.

  • Able to prioritize effectively, create efficient processes and identify ways to improve our product development for speed and efficiency.
