About Sam’s In Club Product Team

At Sam’s Club, we’re committed to being the membership you love the most.  The Sam's Club Product team crafts compelling experiences wherever we meet our members and associates—from our clubs, to their businesses, and to their homes. We creatively deliver impact for the web, apps, in-club experiences and associate-facing tools. This team has delivered industry leading products such as Scan & Go and curbside pickup features in the Sam’s mobile app.

What you'll do...

In this Product Associate III role, you will support the product owner for the largest associate-facing app at Sam’s Club, Own Your Inventory (OYI), touching every item in the club.  This patented app has provided associates with the digital tools necessary to accurately manage their club’s inventory.  Machine learning and artificial intelligence technology helps prevent lost sales as well as predict other inventory related issues for associates to resolve.  The experience team is constantly iterating with new inventory intelligence events to maintain inventory and location accuracy, while removing friction.  This role will also support an omnichannel item availability initiative to make the member’s selection of items the same across different channels.

You will work with a large Experience Team covering user experience (UX) and design, engineering frontend and backend developers, operations, and business partners.  While gaining exposure to multiple disciplines involved in product development, you will have the opportunity to develop skills necessary to promote into a full Product Manager role.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Assisting with sprint planning – you will help determine the level of effort for features and plot out feature delivery
  • Assisting with writing feature requirements – ensure user stories address the core problem we are trying to solve
  • Creating acceptance criteria – you will write acceptance criteria for development based upon final designs to ensure the proper experience
  • Testing new features – during the pilot phases, you will go to a club to test the features of the new release
  • Owning issue tracking – as issues are discovered, you will document the problems and track progress towards fixes across the experience team
  • Documenting user feedback – ideas and suggestions are constantly coming in from users. You will communicate with club associates and consolidate the information for future enhancements
  • Participating in design reviews – you will provide valuable feedback before development as begun
  • Managing the feature backlog – always ensuring smaller enhancements are not overlooked
  • Analyzing data - to provide actionable insights to inform the product roadmap
  • Researching item availability problems - and developing potential solutions

You’ll sweep us off our feet if…

  • You are passionate about inventory, identifying problems, user experience, and analytics.
  • You are data-driven and analytical to draw insights from current product performance to deliver on key user metrics.
  • You have had experience working with large cross-functional teams to make the vision of the product successful.
  • You are a storyteller, visionary and innovator
  • You have product mindset with a test and learn mentality and an agile way of working to improve your team’s products
  • You are adaptable to sudden changes in priorities and quick to respond to and resolve issues.
