Director of Software Engineering: Data & Microservices

Here, as a Data & Microservices Software Engineering Director, you’ll be part of a team that enables business outcomes through continuous innovation, optimization, enhancement, and maintenance of Data & Microservices.

Responsibilities and Duties

•A solid engineering leader with an excitement for leading and building new engineering teams and developing microservices driven experience layer and automation systems tailored to the needs of Walmart People Systems and other internal Walmart processes.•Experience in successfully delivering multiple, concurrent, large-scale high-impact initiatives and a deep knowledge of API-first approach, Scalable Distributed architectures, Domain-driven design, High-volume mission-critical systems and defining/driving SLA/SLO metrics.•Ability to take systems from prototype to production, building a roadmap of capabilities including developing, testing and deploying services driven infrastructure on a large-scale.•Develop and execute enterprise-level strategy for this platform and systems using current business roadmap by analyzing competitive trends and patterns; analyzing the technology landscape; evaluating short and long term implications; and communicating strategies and change initiatives clearly to onboard internal consumer and external third party vendor systems to leverage the Internal/External API driven approach. •Hands-on leadership approach through influencing, mentoring, teaching and leading multi-functional engineering teams to define, design, deliver, and operate this integrated platform for providing seamless connectivity for internal Walmart systems as well as external Technology/Vendor partners.•Driven by ambiguity and continuous improvement, to develop and implement reliability, engineering and operational excellence with consistent top priority to ensure the platform is highly available. •Ability to build and grow a diverse and inclusive teams that prioritizes creativity and impact.
•Customer-Centric: Create and maintain an environment that provides customers/members with desired products, services, and experiences•Results-Oriented: Use internal and external resources to achieve success, and create an environment of accountability•Leadership & Expertise: 3 years’ supervisory experience is required, and 1 year’s cross functional experience is preferred

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related field OR 8 years’ experience in software
engineering or related field.
3 years’ supervisory experience.

Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years' experience in software engineering
