What you'll do...

It’s an exciting time to join our Walmart Technology journey and the Data Protection Team is seeking a Staff Engineer to provide the industry knowledge and technical expertise to implement strategies, evaluate products, and build upon the backup infrastructure that supports Walmart datacenters and over 8,000 Walmart stores. In this role, you will work with complex backup systems, designing, developing, and integrating them at every stage of its life cycle. If you’re reliable in delivering mission-critical infrastructure with an eye toward accessibility, optimization, and automation, we’d like to hear from you.

  • You have experience with Puppet and Ansible automation tools. 
  • You have had a role in automating data protection tasks.

  • You are self-driven and motivated to work in a fast-paced, results-driven agile environment with varied responsibilities.

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on, in-depth experience with a data protection platform at enterprise scale: Netbackup, Spectrum protect, Commvault etc ..
  • Experience leading a team through multiple large-scale projects at a given time
  • Working knowledge of databases in regard to backup functionality i.e. Oracle RMAN   
  • In-depth experience in Ruby, Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting 
  • Knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP 
  • Experience in GIT or a similar Version Control system. 
  • Knowledge of SOX, HIPPA CCPA, GDPR as it pertains to data retention and recovery standards
  • Awareness of security needs, including implementing top-level fail-safes to protect our systems 
  • Strategy development and implementation
