About the team…

The Order Management team is responsible for the creation and maintenance of purchase orders used to purchase inbound goods from suppliers to distribution centers / fulfillment centers or from suppliers directly to stores depending on channel methods. Our system holds records of purchase order agreements with suppliers and any Stock Transfer Order (STO) for movement within the Walmart and Sam’s Network.

Our Order Management application is the heart of the replenishment systems in terms of order processing and providing purchase order data to external systems such as EDI that sends data to our vendors for ordering product.  Global Logistics Systems (GLS) for receiving, Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for booking trailers, Enterprise Inventory Management (EIM) and Finance for vendor payments.

What you’ll do…

Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements and translating requirements into technical solutions. Direct root cause analysis of critical business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); directing actions as designated in the plan. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open-Door policy.

You’ll really wow us if you have…

  • Experience working in Retail / Order Management areas
  • Knowledge of the processes within an Agile organization are required, CI/CD, scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Deep understanding of the development lifecycle within a corporate environment is mandatory. Strong development background with Java, Python, Scala, Go, etc., and pragmatic use of the languages with Kubernetes deployments will be needed.
  • Experience in leveraging cloud native design principles and patterns
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Cassandra, etc.)
  • A broad background in multiple technology subjects is highly recommended as the ideal candidate will be able to specify technologies needed to implement various solutions that achieve the architectural directions as devised under both Reactive (Event based) and Active (Service Oriented) Architecture implementations
  • Experience working with logging and application monitoring stack: Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, energy, perseverance, and the desire to solve big problems
  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, rapidly changing, dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires collaboration across multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an approachable way for broad audiences.


  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years' experience in software engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer Science and 4 years’ experience in software engineering OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
